It's been a little over 3 weeks since Willow was born. We are getting into a routine and trying to survive on little sleep. She's been very fussy lately and we are worried she is having trouble with "milk-based" food(formula and breastmilk). Her belly rumbles and grumbles and she pulls her legs up and makes a lot of "uncomfortable" noises. We have a ped appt. on Friday, that's definitely something we will bring up. My mom bought us a baby scale and according to it she weighs 6lb 5.5 oz now !!!! What can we say....we grow 'em big :)
Monday Aug 8 she has her carseat study again, let's hope she passes this time. Last week we had out appt with the audiologist(because she didn't pass her hearing test at the hospital). She passed with flying colors, so that's one less thing to worry about.

Willow had her first doc appointment on Monday. She was 5lb 4.4 oz, yay! She was 5lb 1.9oz when she came home from the hospital. Her tear ducts are clogged so she's on some ointment to help and as of now they are looking much much better. She is eating like a champ and we are looking forward to Aug 8 when she has her carseat test again. Hopefully she will pass this time and we can rid of the car bed.
My mom came and stayed a few days after I came home and was a great help to us as I was still a little weak and tired. She went home for the weekend and then came back with my dad to celebrate my 36th b-day. She then came back for a couple days this week so I could go to my doctors appointments and leave Willow at home with her.
My BP is getting much better and the nephrologist is weaning me off of one of my meds. Hopefully by the end of the week I will be off of that one completely. He was very pleased with how by BP was doing.
I was cleared to drive by my OB but can only lift 15lbs.
Next week Willow has an appointment at the audiologist because she didn't pass her hearing test in one ear before leaving the hospital. Fingers crossed she's grown some and she will pass it.
Tomorrow we are going to venture out with her to go the east side of Indy to see her grandma and grandpa Hitch. Grandpa Hitch is very sick and was unable to visit us in the hospital. Fingers crossed Willow does ok on that long car ride. Wish us luck.

Well folks we've been home for almost 24 hours at this point. I'm sure most of you know the circumstances but I'll just put a few notes here in this journal.
Friday July 8 started out normally, I had a lunch date with some people from work . So I went, had a great time. As usual my legs and feet were swollen but other than that I felt great. I had a BP recheck appointment with docat 3 that afternoon. After lunch I went to the my appointment. Again, feeling good. They checked my BP, then checked again, then the nurse went and got another nurse to check my BP. I thought...UH OH this can't be good. It was 180/100 (ish). So they put me in the exam room on my left side and told me to relax....YEAH RIGHT. I waited for a few minutes and the doc came in and said "you are headed to the hospital". So by 4 pm I was at the hospital and things were happening FAST. Doc came in and said we are taking this baby today NOW. By 5:30pm Willow Grace Hitch was here.
Now things are pretty blurry in my memory. I guess my BP was super high and it was a pretty dangerous situation. I ended up in the ICU until Tuesday morning. I did get to see Willow everyday at least once, which was great! Some things I remember, some I don't. Which I guess is a good thing. I can say that I do remember the people at Hendricks Co. Hospital being nothing but nice.
By Tuesday they were talking about releasing me the following day. I was moved to the labor and delivery floor Tuesday morning and things were getting back to normal with my bp. They ran some tests (EKG, chest xray, ultrasound on kidneys). I spoke with a nephrologist. All the docs were and still are baffled by me.
Tuesday night we all 3 were in the same room together, which made things better. Wednesday morning they got things in gear and I was on the way to being released. All tests came back normal(of course). Docs are still baffled but think I just don't handle pregnancy well. I was prescribed 2 blood pressure meds and will have follow ups with the nephrologist.
By 4:30 we were on our way home , all 3 of us. It took a little longer to get released because Willow did NOT pass her regular car seat test (90 min. sitting in the carseat with no drop in vitals). She was just too small to be able to sit upright for the amount of time she needed to with out dropping her oxygen level. So she had to repeat the test in a car seat bed, in which she lies flat. Once she passed that we were good to go. She will have to stay in the flat car bed until she can pass the test in her regular car seat. Which may not be until her due date (approx. Aug 8).
I'll post more as the next few days at home pan out. The first night wasn't too bad, I'm still tired from all the things I"ve been thru but luckily my mom has come to stay with us for a couple days which is great. I'm so glad she was able and willing to help us out.
Stay tuned......this is gonna be Willow's Big Adventure
